I couldn't wait for this new book to come out and Mrs. Sands didn't disappoint. So far I have enjoyed all of Mrs. Sands books, this story was a nice fun read, and I'am glad I got it.

Now the reason's I only gave it four star's.
1.) I was able to figure out who the bad guy was pretty quickly when things started going wrong for the heroine.

2.) The second reason is only a small part at the end of the story but I found it to be annoying. I don't want to give to much away so I'll just say that Campbell's mother does something wrong to Jo but is almost instantly forgiven and everyone is happy again The End. Now if I had a mother-in-law that did this to me I would be pissed and not talk to her for a year maybe longer. Again this was just a small part of the book that other's might not even care about, but that I found very annoying.

3.) I felt like I have read this story before from this author. Different part's of the story reminded me of her other books, the horse going crazy, poison in the drink, girl dressed like a boy, heroine being insecure about her wifely ability's just to name a few.

Even after all that I did still enjoy the story. If you liked this book and even if you didn't you should check out two of my favorite books by this author Devil of the Highlands, and Sweet Revenge.

To Marry a Scottish Laird Lynsay Sands 9780062273574 Books Reviews

This was a great book that continued from the first book of Annabel and Ross. This involves Joan and Cam. Joan is traveling as a boy with a death bed note to deliver when she is attacked by thieves. Cam comes across her and saves the day but not without being stabbed. She nurses him to health and they decide to travel together to finish her trip since it's on his way. But nothing is ever easy when it comes to relationships and there is a lot of problems and truth that come out. I was so happy to read the epilogue and see their ending. And also reading to find out Annabel and Ross's family and getting to see them again.
this was a good story. unlike some stories that are based around a single event, this one got into the daily life aspect, with some exciting parts and some entertaining parts and some romantic parts and a little bit of life in every one. I liked that it really helped you get to know the characters and situations involved better that you otherwise would have. with all of that in mind, the plot line was awesome! I loved the mystery and suspense involved. also, a lot of the language and phrasing was very authentic which only enhances the whole story
I truly enjoyed reading bk2 To Marry a Scottish Laird. Cam/Campbell Sinclair and Joan Charter were well written H/H and I really like both of them. There romance is steamy hot and romantic. The build up to how they become friends then lovers and then a married couple is very believable. I really like that this story had an Epilog, which is very important to me in any book, but goes sorely lacking in most. There is a plot to kill Joan which has a few twist and turns. I thought I had it figure out only to find I didn't as the story moves forward. The story is faced pace. A page turner. But I had a few things I didn't like. The storyline had lots of recycled scenes from the previous book An English Bride in Scotland. There were lots of similarities . I also, didn't like all the violence perpetrated again Joan it was a bit over the top. Most people would be dead if all this abuse to there body had happen to them. Even with my dislikes I still love this story and all the characters. I Highly Recommend To Marry A Scottish Laird.
Lynsay Sands an extraordinary writer. She weaves her stories with magic and then remembers past loved characters. She is right up there with Johanna Lindsey and Julie Garwood when it comes to these type of formats. I will purchase them every time I find one. I discovered her last year and already have all her books. I have bought all hardback when I can. I love the large print ones the best as my library is extensive to these writers and my books are for keeps. Hard back books last longer. Thanks Ms. Sands. Exceptional. D'Nanna -

Love me some smutty highlander historical romances with a twist of mystery, and Lynsay Sands delivers every time! I inhaled this book within one day because I was just unable to put it down!

"To Marry a Scottish Laird" is the second book in the Highland Brides series, and it begins about 20 years after book 1, which was a bit of a surprise to me, but it made it all the more enjoyable to revisit the main characters from book 1 ("An English Bride in Scotland") and see how things turned out with the long-term HEA.

Campbell ("Cam") Sinclair is the first-born son of the Sinclair laird who was once married but lost both his wife and unborn infant in childbirth; thus, he has decided marriage is not for him, despite his mother's desperate attempts to persuade him otherwise by inviting every eligible female in Scotland to their home. Weary of the non-stop female bombardments, Cam decides to roam the lands with a couple of his cousins as hired swords for various allies in the area. His quest takes him to the lowlands and into England where he comes across a lad being pummeled by a giant of a man attempting to steal the boy's pouch. Cam comes to the lad's aid and saves him, but he fails to notice that there are 3 other men with this ogre, and one stabs him in the back. After fending off the other two, he collapses, and is left to the mercy of the lad and/or the fates.

Joan is the daughter of the healer who served an English abbey for many years until her recent passing. On her deathbed, her mother begs her one last request she is to deliver a message to the Laird and Lady McKay (the MCs from book 1) in the Scottish highlands. Her instructions included ways that Joan can defend herself on the potentially perilous and lengthy journey; one of these ideas involves binding her breasts, hiding her long blonde hair under a cap, and posing as a young man on a mission to deliver a message. When Cam comes to her defense, she feels obligated to care for him as he was injured in an effort to save her from a beating death. When he awakens, he sees the lad he saved, but cannot discern any facial features as he was beaten so severely, yet he stumbles upon the "boy" bathing in the lake and realizes "he" is actually a very appealing female.

Cam and Joan must try to fight not only their magnetic attraction to one another but also their growing feelings as a commoner can never marry a laird.... right?

What I liked
--- Both MCs were imminently likeable from the get-go
--- The "dressed as a lad ruse" has been played often before as an HR story line, but this one worked better because her face was not a factor as it was beaten, so he wouldn't have been as much of a dolt as many of the male MCs are when they run around the countryside with a "boy" and not realize he's way too pretty and delicate to actually be one (also, the reveal happens early in the book, so they don't get very far along the path before her very clearly feminine assets are on display)
--- The twists in the book made it all the more interesting, even when I was able to guess the larger mystery of the story

What I didn't like
--- The miscommunication angst gets old for me pretty quickly; thankfully, the female MC from the first book in the series intervened a couple of times to set them straight, but really - just talk to each other - ugh! )

Overall, another very satisfying historical romance from Sands that hit on my must-haves likeable main characters; some turns/spins on the tale; and a truckload (er, I mean, horse-drawn cartload) of steamy goodness galore!

Plot --- 4.5/5
Main Characters --- 5/5
Supporting Cast --- 4.5/5
Steam Level --- 4/5
Violence --- some (none domestic or gory)
Language --- minimal
POV --- 3rd
